Desktop Call Recorder replaces MP3 Skype Recorder
Skype closed on 5 May 2025, and Desktop Call Recorder replaces MP3 Skype Recorder. If you have MP3 Skype Recorder installed, it stays, and so do your old recordings. Desktop Call Recorder, made by the same developer, Domit LTD, records calls in the apps people use now.
Desktop Call Recorder is a Windows app that records your calls automatically in Zoom, Microsoft Teams, WhatsApp, Telegram, Slack, Signal, Viber, Webex, WeChat and other desktop apps, and in Google Meet and other calling sites in Chrome or Edge. It records both sides of the call and saves the recording as an MP3 file on your PC.
It can also turn a recording into text on your PC. You can read the conversation, click a line to hear that moment, and search all your transcripts at once. Nothing is uploaded to a cloud service.
Desktop Call Recorder is also on the Microsoft Store. More about the app is on desktopcallrecorder.com.
Latest version: 3.6, released 22 October 2026. Release notes
The free version has all recording features, up to 30 recorded calls a month and transcripts of up to 3 minutes per call. No account is needed. The Pro subscription removes these limits and adds full call transcription, stealth mode and password protection for the recorder. Plans and prices are on the Pro subscription page.
